Today we had our annual Christmas Bash at the Breakfast Club, which is the homeless breakfast served the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at St. Thomas the Apostle, Hollywood. Thanks go out to Brit Bjurstrom, Salvador Hernandez and Mark Frazier for working late and getting up early to create a holiday wonderland for our diners and volunteers. We even had Byron Challoner, one of our regular volunteers and Ryan Benyo, a music producer and professional musician, there to serenade our patrons with Christmas carols.

The hall went from ordinary to magical with the addition of music, Christmas lights, flowers and centerpieces. Here are some pictures:

Also, we were able to cook in our church kitchen, which has just undergone a massive renovation that has changed it from old and awful to new and fabulous. Thank you John Bollard, Rector’s Warden, for leading this charge. What an improvement!
Here is our new range and grill:
And two of our six new fridges and/or freezer
A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers who get up early on Saturday mornings to give time, energy, and goodwill to the men and women we serve in Hollywood. What a great group of folks – the volunteers and the patrons.
Finally, a shout out to Ray Beaty, the director of the Breakfast Club, Canon Ian Elliott Davies, our priest, and Ben Pratt, vestry member and diehard volunteer for all your fine work. Your leadership and support of the Breakfast Club makes all the difference.
