Apartments, Heat and the Joy of Organization

Ray and I helped daughter Rachael move into her new apartment in McKinney today. Yes, it was 100 degrees when we were hauling boxes up a flight of stairs, but never mind that, our girl has finally obtained the keys to her very own Texas digs and she is very happy. As the mother of this young woman, I am pleased, too, since I can see that this apartment is well maintained, cute, and feels very safe. This is true for the grounds, as well. So, all is well in that regard.

Meantime, Ray and I have been continuing our reorganization push. We are now tackling the barn behind Lyon House, which has been filled with lots of incidentals for far too long. Many of those collectables are now in the back yard getting sorted so that they can go to new homes. I am a little too tired to contemplate exactly how we’re going to make that happen, but we have guests arriving this weekend so there is a timeline on how long those boxes can linger. This is a good thing.

Today was gorgeous early in the day. It only became oppressively hot late in the afternoon. So, it was a pleasure to be out and about in the morning, especially since the wind was strong enough to keep everything fairly cool. But we are facing another very hot late afternoon tomorrow – around 100 degrees – so our plan is to get up early and work only until around 2. Then we’ll head inside to the air conditioning.

That’s all, folks, for tonight. It’s been another busy day and my eyelids are closing involuntarily.

More tomorrow…
