Tonight, Ray and I went out with Liz and Ron and Ron’s parents to celebrate some very happy news: Liz and Ron have both landed jobs post bar exam! Hurray and congratulations, you two. We are all very proud and pleased.
We had a celebratory dinner at Connie and Ted’s on Santa Monica Blvd, which is where the old Silver Spoon used to be. I want to put in a plug for this completely renovated eatery. The building has been transformed and the seafood is top-notch. We had a wide assortment of food at our table from oysters on the half shell to mussels and clams in a marinara sauce, to lobster rolls to grilled shrimp to fried cod, and every bit of the food was fresh and delicious. The service was also very good. We even were seated in a smaller room so that hearing wasn’t a problem, which might not have been the case in the larger room, which was jam-packed with patrons. Apparently, everyone has discovered Connie and Ted’s at the same time.
The restaurant takes reservations and I suggest you make them since we arrived at 6:45 and had to wait ten minutes for our table. By the time we left 2 hours later, the place was filled to the brim with folks.
Prices are right where you’d expect them to be for an evening meal in Weho: 16 – 25 dollars for an entrée. The portions were decent-sized and, again, the food was excellent.
So, let’s call this celebration a complete success.
Thanks, Liz and Ron, for giving us a great reason for going out and indulging ourselves. An occasion to mark the beginning of both of your official careers seems more than appropriate.
Again, congratulations to two of the most dedicated and hard-working people I know and love.
I am delighted for you both.
