Luna & the 4th of July Parade

Today we went out to Sierra Madre to see Luna and her preschool in the 4th of July parade.  I thought we were going to see a 10 minute parade of a bunch of kids and maybe a few parents.  Instead, the little city of Sierra Madre (directly east of Pasadena) “put on the dog,” as we say in Texas.  This was quite an event that lasted well over an hour and had all sorts of organizations represented.  This felt like true small town America anywhere in the United States and was a heart-warming tribute to our country’s Independence Day.  Below are pictures of the event, and, of course, of Luna (and her daddy) in her first parade.

I hope you had a good 4th of July whether you were with family, friends or alone.  Here in LA, the best time to be in the city is over a holiday when most people are gone.  The traffic is light and theaters and stores are not crowded. So, we’ve had a very good holiday weekend just staying around town.

I’ll be checking back in tomorrow.

Until then, stay well.
