Daughter Liz left this morning to go pick up her boyfriend, Ron, and head out to parts far-away for 2 months. Here she is with me just before jumping in her car. She is dressed up because they were going to a wedding this afternoon and then leaving from there to head up the coast.
(I am very stylish in my Crocs…)
I know I’m a baby, but I had to have a little cry as Liz was leaving. This wasn’t because I didn’t want her to go. It was just that Mama-thing about safety and open roads and the unknown…
Here she is giving me a big smile after seeing my tears. Luckily, my children expect me to cry (since it’s so common) so it’s not upsetting.
Ray and I stood in the front and watched as Liz pulled out and headed off to pick up Ron. Yes, we parents do have that moment of, “There goes my baby,” when our children embark on an adventure.
So if you see a bright red Ford Focus zooming down the highway near you, then give it a honk and a wave. You never know, you might be seeing my girl and Ron.
If it’s them, I feel certain they’ll wave back.
