We are in the middle of Arizona on Interstate 40 and it is dark except for the red taillights from 18 wheelers in front of us and the headlights of cars and trunks traveling east on the divided highway.
We are listening to a compilation of Ray Wylie Hubbard on Ray’s Ipod. We have listened to a compilation of Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and Billy Joe Shaver. For those who don’t know, these are all top-of-the-line Texas singer/songwriters. We had a little old-time ZZ Top, too, just for fun. In other words, we are having us a big time.
No XM radio on this trip. Ray loaned that to Liz and Ron for their cross-country trip. That’s okay, though, because this has been fun listening to song after song by these very talented gentlemen. Lots of fun indeed.
Ray Wylie Hubbard just finished “Snake Farm.” I can’t hear that song without smiling.
Okay, well, this will probably be posted later tonight once we get back to civilization. Our goal is Kingman, AZ tonight. We are 50 miles away right now. Wow, we have travelled 1038 miles so far. We’ll be close to 1100 when we stop for the night. We are rolling!
Until tomorrow.
Night-night.
