One of Those Lazy/Happy Days

I have been in my pajamas all day today, something I haven’t done in I don’t know when. Am I sick? Do I need to rest? The answer to those questions is a resounding no. I have had the pleasure of having visitors here: Sarah and Luna and we have just been having too much fun to bother getting dressed.

Gregorio is on an archaeological dig for the week in Oceanside, so Sarah suggested she and baby Luna come and stay with us two nights before they go down to join Gregorio. We, of course, were thrilled at that prospect. We shifted our plans so that we could just hang out together and that’s what we’ve done.  We made a pallet on the floor (that’s Texan for spread out a bunch of blankets so it’s soft), tossed some stuffed animals on the pallet and plopped Luna down to entertain herself. All day, she was perfectly happy doing just that, interrupted occasionally as we ran to retrieve one of her toys from Cordelia, who clearly was confused as to exactly whose toys they were.

Here is a picture of Grandpa with Luna. You can tell they look extremely stressed:

And here’s one where Cordelia and Luna are perhaps getting a little too friendly for hygiene’s sake.

This has been an absolutely lovely day. We’ve eaten, watched Sesame Street, reruns of Project Runway, a silly (but funny) Billy Crystal movie, and have just been together. I had forgotten just how little gets done when a baby is crawling all around and pulling up on everything she can get her hands on. Dishes go unwashed, beds go unmade, business goes unattended because, after all, what is more important than making sure that baby is happy, healthy and safe? Yes, some days life is exceedingly simple. This was one of those wonderfully simple days.

And here is our girl after her bath and ready for bed.  As you can see, her pj’s say it all.
