We headed up to Ojai today and spent part of the day at our orange grove. The temperature started out at 34 around 8 am and was 80 before we left in early afternoon.
This is an orange blossom with others on the way to blooming. Ah…a scent so pure and sweet it defies words.
Agaves we have planted and which are now thriving.
We are replacing some of the orange trees that die with oaks. Here is one that has really taken off recently.
The distant hills and our beautiful trees
If you’ve never smelled an orange blossom, then you need to figure out how to do that. Absolute heaven.
We have blossoms and a green orange on the same tree. One growing season right after another.
Another oak we’ve planted for shade. This is the first season it’s big enough to do its job.
Here is the fire ring we built. We are very pleased with how pretty this is and also how functional.
Here is the inside of our Spartan trailer with Cordelia enjoying the coolness of the floor.
Here is our working stove, which got hooked back up today and is now ready for action.
The weather was gorgeous today and the grove was so peaceful and quiet, it was a treat to be there. We are looking forward to spending more time there in the next few months. We now have a working hot water heater, as well, so the creature comforts are increasing. No electricity, but who needs that? It’s nice, I might say, to have a respite from the plugged-in world. The days seem longer and calmer.
