Ray Agutter In Action

Here is a picture of my brother-in-law, Ray Agutter (in the khaki colored suit), aka “E. Ray” at Sarah and Gregorio’s wedding reception a couple of years ago. This picture encapsulates E. Ray’s fun-living spirit as he dances the night away while surrounded by family and friends who love him. Never mind that Ray had cancer. He never let cancer get in his way of experiencing life to the fullest. In fact, he went on a round-the-world backpack adventure after he was first treated for prostate cancer. That trip provided wonderful stories for him to share as well as produced a whole slew of new friends with whom he stayed in close touch.

Family Dancing

Tomorrow is Father’s Day and it is fitting to say that Ray Agutter was an outstanding father to his son, Jim and daughter, Kevin, and a wonderful grandfather to his grandson, Eli, and granddaughter, Sophie. He was also a loving father-in-law to Jim’s wife, Karri, and Kevin’s husband, Scott. Not one person in E. Ray’s family (or in his life) ever had to wonder if he loved him/her. He made a habit of saying, “I love you,” and “I’m proud of you,” to all those who were close. We were all the lucky recipients of E. Ray’s open and loving heart. What a gift.

Happy Father’s Day to a person who knew the power of love.

E. Ray, rest in peace. Your light shines on.
