Tomorrow at 4 am, we are off to Texas. We are taking Rachael with her belongings to resettle in North Texas and we also will have her friend, Keara, with us, along with Sarah and Luna. We are traveling in our big van, plus Rachael’s car. Keara is coming just to spend a little extra time with Rachael; Sarah needs to check in with her medical school in Fort Worth since she’s been on a leave of absence; and Luna, well, she needs to be wherever her food source is and that’s Sarah.
So, off we go with food packed for picnics along the way (better for Sarah then nursing in a restaurant), plus some raw vegetables and home-made cookies to munch as we drive.
If you detect a little perk in my step, it’s because Ray and I just finished ALL the preparations and it’s only 8:08 pm. That means that by 9 I can be in bed, ready to get a good night sleep before manning the wheel for the early shift of driving. Ray will start out driving Rachael’s car about 2 hours behind us since he has some work he needs to attend to in the early morning. He will bring Cordelia and Sammie with him and I suspect he’s going to enjoy a bit of quiet time before catching up with the our big rambling van.
I think we’re all excited to be off on the trip. The only down side is that Gregorio will not be with us since he has to work, and Liz and Ron definitely can’t come since they are both studying for the bar exam. Still, Gregorio is headed to Mexico for the weekend to see his mother who had back surgery this week, and Liz and Ron are no doubt thrilled that the house will be empty so they can spread out all their books here and settle in for those long hours of toil.
Keara has just arrived so the trip phase has begun. Hurray!
Of course, a few days with my beloved little granddaughter is also a wonderful treat.
