Waiting for Luna

Ray, Liz, Rachael and I joined Sarah and Gregorio this afternoon at their apartment for an Easter meal and a general hang-out day.  (Ron, Liz’s boyfriend, went with us to church this morning, but needed to spend this afternoon with his family.)  We are in the countdown for Luna Isabella’s birth, which the doctor has said is imminent.  Nothing comes as slowly as an eagerly anticipated baby.  Gregorio’s family is also on baby-alert and is simply waiting for the call to make the trek from Ensenada.

I never realized when I was expecting my own children how exciting and important these babies are for a multitude of people, not just family, but close friends as well.  New life gets everybody’s love meter running.  Babies produce an “Ah…” response from the majority of folks on the planet.  This is surely part of our instinctive drive to keep our species going and growing.

This afternoon, after delicious turkey burgers grilled by Gregorio (that young man can cook!), we watched YouTube videos of babies (human and animal) doing funny things.  Babies belly laughing, babies escaping from their cribs, babies eating lemons for the first time, orphan baby orangutans being bottle fed, baby rescued panda bears trying to escape their playpen, motherless baby bears being tended by park rangers, etc.  These 2 to 3 minute videos were entertaining and seemingly endless.  Needless to say, we are all knee-deep in baby love just waiting for our own little girl to arrive.

So, we continue the countdown.  We, of course, hope little Luna will grace us with her presence shortly.  Until then, I may have to tune back into YouTube!

Happy Easter to all.
