Friday night. Waiting for Rachael and Ariel to bring Luna back from their dinner together, “a date,” Rachael called it for the three of them. Luna spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa and is also spending the night because her mother Sarah has returned to work in her family medicine residency program and is currently working nights. Gregorio’s mother is here from Ensenada to help take care of Nico and Luna during the day while Sarah sleeps and we are doing our part by giving Abuelita a little break from an energetic three-year-old.
Luckily, Sarah has the weekend off and only one more week of nights before she returns to a normal day schedule. Abuelita will return to Mexico after two weeks of grandchildren duty and we’ll go back to our weekly visits with Nico and Luna. Alas…it is tough for Sarah and Gregorio with two small children and very demanding schedules. We are all trying to ease the burden as best as we can.
We will be celebrating Luna’s 3rd birthday on Sunday. There is a good chance of rain (which we need so nobody is complaining) but that would move the party from the park to Sarah and Gregorio’s house where they would put up a big canopy. I assured Sarah that Luna won’t care. She is, after all, only three. She will be just as happy to play with her little friends in her room as she would be in the park. I guess we’ll just see what the weather does.
I think I just heard a car door slam outside. I suspect Luna, Rachael and Ariel will be appearing at our front door in just a few minutes.
Sleep well, my friends. I hope you’ve had a good week and are ready for a restful weekend.
I’ll be checking back in tomorrow. Until then, be well.
