We are in Van Horn, Texas, not too many miles east of El Paso and we are grateful to be here. It is 1:30 am now and we have been ready to stop since 11:30. However, the oil boom in West Texas has made every motel/hotel cram packed with oil rig workers. The prices are up, too. We stopped in Pecos at a Motel 6 and a single room – all they had – was $99. So, on we went until Van Horn, where the we found a regular motel with regular prices. Hallelujah.
Sammie and Cordelia getting settled
The good news is that our drive tomorrow should be easier since we have made it this far.
So, off I go to bed now. I am happy to be off the road and in a room. Life gets simple pretty fast, doesn’t it? Surprising how quickly that comes into focus when it looks as if you might have to sleep in your car on a cold night.
Well, now I can even have a shower. How lovely.
Good night.
